I had been trying to do this for so long, the same feeling of joining a new school when you are a kid was similar to the one I had been experiencing, today after having to pick up some piette sequins to fix my friend’s dress, I found myself closer to it, and so I braved up and joined Blackburn studio, it is definitely a great day! Blackburn was born December 19, 1920 in Summit, New Jersey. As a teenager, he was mentored by several Harlem Renaissance artists, including Charles “Spanky” Alston and Augusta Savage. Blackburn studied lithography, etching, woodblock, and silk-screening at the WPA Harlem Community Art Center. In 1948, he established the Printmaking Workshop which became influential in the international printmaking community, producing such works as “Impressions Our World” (1974), a portfolio of prints by African American artists. Blackburn taught at Cooper Union, Pratt Institute, Columbia University, and Rutgers University.

Years before the Tumblr and Instagram explosion, Jon-Paul Rodriguez created a community around a photography experiment named Photo Drifting. Photo Drifting was a New York City based collective of creative professionals who documented and shared their lives via photographs, representing different views of life in NYC. For May and June at Art at Malu, and as part of the LIC Arts Open festival, we will have a special exhibition reviewing and celebrating Photo Drifting Retrospect of photos from the collective during the years 09 - 11.Featuring Niki Hall, Daniel Hernandez, Shawn Hoke, Danielle Kelly, Gabriela Alva Cal y Mayor, Jon-Paul Rodriguez, and Naya Urena. Curated by Ananda Lima and Bernadette Torres, former photodrifters.The exhibition will be shown from May 12 to July 6. hace unos momentos terminé de leer un articulo sobre todo lo que ha hecho el PRI, y cuantas “menos malas” obras ha hecho el PAN, por mas que busco no encuentro el Autor que lo escribe, pero sí se pide que se comparta con toda cuanta persona uno conozca, lo  leí pero no le daré forward ni lo compartiré en facebook. Solo guardo esta foto para reflexionar y seguir con la investigación que decidirá por quien voy a votar.
